My taste in music runs the gamut. And as a child of the 80’s, New Wave was in fashion, and I was a fan. This band in particular was one of the biggest, if not the biggest in that genre. I never was able to see them live until today. And I’m talking about Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Duran Duran.
On the last night of the fall leg of their 2024 tour, Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, and Roger Taylor played to a packed house in Manchester, NH. And as Simon told the audience, this was the very first time in their career that they ever played in New Hampshire.
Although their original guitar player Andy Taylor is no longer a member of the band, his replacement Dom Brown, who has played with them for 20 years, fit right in.
Besides one hiccup when Simon LeBon tripped and fell and busted a monitor, the rest of the show was outstanding. I had no voice left at the end as I sang my ass off the entire night to all of their hits including, Hungry Like The Wolf, Union of the Snake, The Reflex, Girls On Film, Rio, and my favorite New Moon on Monday.
Intermixed throughout their set list were a few covers that appear on their 2023 release Danse Macabre including, Evil Woman by ELO, Super Freak by Rick James, and Psycho Killer by the Talking Heads. The finished the encore with one of their biggest hits, Rio.
