Parlor Greens, is a supergroup put together by the cats over at Colemine Records featuring Adam Scone on organ, Jimmy James on guitar, and Tim Carman on drums. On this particular night, they were the openers for Kelly Finnigan & The Atonements. Their 45 minute set was short. If you weren’t begging for more when they ended, I seriously am questioning why you were there in the first place.
This trio performed a high-energy set of songs from their debut release, In Green / We Dream. If you like R&B with a twist of funk, soul and jazz, then go buy this album—if you can find a copy.
Jimmy James is my spirit animal. There, I said it. His energy is infectious when he’s rippin’ a solo on his guitar. Every single person in the room had a smile on their face. And this wasn’t the first time I witnessed his magic. I’ve seen him play before when he was with the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio ,and I had the exact same experience.
I was familiar with Tim Carman as he use to play the skins for GA-20, and Adam’s soulful touch on that organ I knew from his band the Scone Cash Players, most notably their album Blast Furance!
KCRW call them a “heavy instrumental dream team” and I can’t agree more. It’s one band that I could watch over and over and never get bored. Check out their website for concert dates near you.
