G. Love was so good that the fire alarms went off and they kicked everyone out of the venue. True story.

G. Love & Special Sauce played an intimate gig at The Brook, a small casino in New Hampshire last night. It’s no longer just a trio featuring G, Houseman and Jimi Jazz on the upright bass. G’s got a new extended band that gives him a lot more flexibility and freedom.

The setlist was a wide spectrum of new tracks and some of his older hits. As it’s Thanksgiving week, G. added the track “Thanks and Praise” early into the setlist that included the honest verse near then end, “…Giving thanks for my friends and my family, I couldn’t make it sometimes, without them helping me.” And there were so many of G’s friends and fans in the house. The track “Strongest of Our Kind” went out to those people who struggle with addiction, and in this day and age, could mean anything. “Who’s Got the Weed” came off like an anthem to many in the crowd who were up on their feet in the back dancing and grooving (even though recreational use is still considered illegal in The State of New Hampshire).

And then G went back in time to a popular classic, “Cold Beverages” and that’s when things started to get weird. Half way through the song the fire alarms started to go off in the venue. The security cut power to the mic and walked onto the stage to a surprised G and told everyone to exit the premises. The crowd in the concert venue and casino were all ushered out to the front parking lot while we waited for the local fire department to give us the ‘all clear’. Twenty minutes passed and we were allowed back in.

G and his band took the stage and he grabbed the mic and said, “I told you we were gonna burn this place down tonight!” The crowd cheered enthusiastically while the band kicked into an abbreviated few last songs that included a quick freestyle to get the crowd energized, popular tracks “Rodeo Clowns”, “I-76”, and their closing track that got everyone up and on their feet and singing, “Baby’s Got Sauce”.

Catch G. Love & Special Sauce early in 2026 as they embark on the 20th anniversary tour for their album Lemonade.
