Michael Venn is a filmmaker, writer, musician, and automotive enthusiast whose work blends authentic storytelling with a deep appreciation for music, film, and car culture. As the founder of Venn Creative Media, he has directed and produced award-winning documentary films, including In Danger of Being Discovered and The Heroin Effect, earning awards and recognition for emotionally honest, human-centered storytelling.
Outside of filmmaking, Michael has spent years immersed in music as a drummer, performing and recording with bands including Prajna, The Water Section, Lost Nation Road, and Dan Blakeslee. His background in music continues to influence the rhythm, pacing, and emotional tone of his filmmaking, writing, and life.
Fun fact: Michael’s love of storytelling started behind a drum kit long before it started behind a keyboard or camera, and he still believes the best documentaries, like the best stories and songs, are all about timing and feel.
