Another Side of the Sound

I learned about the 2025 debut album Another Side of the Sound by Deitch Teitel Fribush late in the year, so late it was on New Year’s Eve. One of the tracks popped up on a playlist we were listening to and I was instantly intrigued. I feel like the last few years, organ trio supergroups were coming out of the woodwork with extreme purpose. And I have no problem including this group in that circle.

First off, I was surprised to hear Adam Deitch, the drummer behind the band Lettuce laying down the beats since he also appeared on another album that blew me away in 2025, Things of That Nature by his pandemic side project Nitecap. Coupled with Ari Teitel from Dumpstaphunk and organ extraordinaire Sam Fribush, we get a soulful and jazzy funk vibe on this album--one with a pop sensibility.

Besides the ten original instrumental tracks, they also cover The Allman Brothers’ “Midnight Rider” and Bel Biv DeVoe’s hit “Poison” (I bet you didn’t think that was coming back from the 1990’s so soon…am I right?) What I like most about this album is the diversity of the trio’s style and energy. Each member brings something special to the group, whether that’s from their past education or prior bands. When you put it all together it becomes magic!

If bands like Parlor Greens or Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio suit your fancy, dive right into this one by Deitch Teitel Fribush. You won’t regret it.
