When I first heard the single “More, More, More” by the UK based band The Molotovs, I was hooked instantly. In the fall of 2025, I went to London on an excursion to buy vinyl records and see some live music, allthewhile hoping that I’d be able to see them play somewhere. Come to find out, they would be playing a few gigs, but it wouldn’t be until two days after I was due to fly home.

There have been many bands with siblings in it--Oasis, Van Halen, The Psychedelic Furs, Good Charlotte, and the list goes on and on. The Molotovs made up of Matt and Issey are looking to be that next generation of Indie rock stars. If you could compare their music to any other bands I would point you toward the Scottish alternative rock band The Fratellis. They have this garage rock thing going on, highlighted by the sound of loud, crunchy power-chord guitars, an energetic bass player and thumping drums. The 3-piece band spent six long years busking on the street, playing gigs, and eventually opening for such acts as Adam Ant, Blondie, Iggy Pop, and soon to be out supporting another UK rocker, Yungblud.

Their debut album Wasted On Youth is a true testament to their hard work and ability to hone their craft. The vinyl showed up yesterday and the eleven tracks are raw and filled with exuberant energy. I have to say, I enjoyed each song independently. They can easily go from pulsating rock, in tracks like “Get a Life”, “Newsflash” and “Popstar”, to ballads like “Nothing Keeps Her Away” to tracks that are more Pop-infused, such as “Geraldine”, and “Today’s Gonna Be Our Day”, all in a flip of the switch.

Don’t sleep on this band. The Molotovs positive energy is just about to explode everywhere.
