My favorite album in 2025 thus far is Things Of That Nature by Nitecap, out on Perception Records.  I wasn’t familiar with their music until I was served a pop-up ad on Instagram. The tune that was playing peaked my interest so much that I ordered the album on vinyl.

 

The band is made up of Ian Gilley (Keys), Adam Deitch (Drums), Joshua Fairman (Bass), and Drew Birch (Guitar). The friends got together during the pandemic and this little gem transpired.

 

It’s funky, jazzy, and a mix of songs and instrumental soul music drenched in synth sounds and deep bass. Trust me, you’ll be bobbin’ your head back n’ forth to this one.
